Long before stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, winemakers were fermenting wine in clay amphora, also known as terracotta. Thousands of years later, this ancient technique is making a remarkable comeback.

We'll taste six wines from around the world that have been fermented, aged, or both in amphora while exploring how clay vessels influence texture, freshness, aromatics, and overall style. Some wines are subtle, others are wildly unique, but all offer a fascinating look at one of the oldest winemaking traditions on earth that's now becoming increasingly re-popularized.

If you attended Kiera's Cement/Concrete Class series a few months ago, this is a great sequel to the class. But no worries if you didn't, no prerequisites needed! She will go over the 10,000 year history of winemaking, different vessels the winemakers can choose from, and the science behind what makes amphora so unique. Buckle up for another nerdy class with Kiera!
